Beginners

Aim:

This is the transition class between armbands and independent swimming. Basic stroke development and movement is the focus.

Learning Outcomes:

Enter the water unaided using a swivel entry

Put face in water and blow bubbles for 5 seconds

Bob up and down to fully submerge the head repeat 6 times.

Move freely about the pool.

Open eyes underwater and identify an object.

Travel 5m using front / backcrawl type kick with floats.

Travel 5m using breaststroke type kick with floats

Travel 5m using butterfly kicking action.

Demonstrate a breaststroke type arm action.

Demonstrate a front paddle type arm action. (Doggy paddle action)

Push and Glide on front and back in a streamline position.

Fully submerge and blow bubbles for 5 seconds

Demonstrate movement in all directions with floats.

Basic front crawl arms with over arm recovery.

Unassisted travel 5m on back using arms and legs.
