Swimmers

Aim:

To build confidence and independence within the pool. Develop basic swimming strokes over short distances.

Learning Outcomes:

Push and glide, flat streamline position face in the water (Front) Push and glide, flat streamline position (Back)Rotate through 360 degrees vertically in deep water.

Show motionless floating position - hold for 5 seconds.

Climb out of the pool using the steps.

Kick 5m using an alternative kick unassisted (front)Kick 5m using an alternative kick unassisted (back)Kick 5m using a breaststroke / butterfly kicking action.

Travel 5m unaided using arms and legs on front.

Travel 5m unaided using arms and legs on back.

Confidently jump into the pool and swim unaided to the side.Submerge to kneel on the pool floor.Float without support (5 sec) - regain the standing position.

Demonstrate a figure of 8 sculling movement - repeat x 6 (Standing)

Travel 10m unaided on front and back.
